While a Disney Cruise certainly caters to the kids and kids-at-heart on board, adult beverages are available throughout the ship at bars, clubs, restaurants and even in your stateroom!
Unlike many other cruise lines, Disney allows you to bring a small amount of your own alcohol on board. You are allowed to bring either two bottles of wine or champagne 750ml or less, or one 6-pack of beer 12oz or less (per adult guest).
This means no mini-bottles, no powdered alcohol, no liquor.
When you’re checking in to board the ship, these MUST be in your carry-on bag. Any alcohol that is in your checked bag will be removed.
Another tip to remember is that this policy applies in ports-of-call as well. When you return to the ship, you can bring up to two bottles of wine or champagne, or one 6-pack of beer (per adult guest) back onto the ship with you.
Keep in mind that if you want to enjoy your bottle of wine or champagne at your seated dinner time or at Palo or Remy, it is subject to a corkage fee.
If you couldn’t pass up the specialty rum in the Caribbean, you can bring it on board, but it will be stowed by the crew until you depart the ship back in your home port.
On board, there are also a few options that will save you some money if you plan to drink on board. The first day of the cruise, crew members typically sell “beer packages” where you can buy a 12-pack for the price of 10…or a 24-pack for the price of 20. It’s still much more than you would pay in your hometown, but if you think you’ll drink that many, it will save you a few dollars. Plus, they’ll deliver it right to your stateroom and stock your mini-frig!
You can also purchase a Disney Cruise Line mug that you can refill at any on-board bar where you’ll get 21 oz for the price of 16 oz. The current price of this mug is $14.95 plus tax.
And finally, each day of your cruise, there will be a drink special that will be slightly discounted from the regular rate.
