The Meet-And-Greet You Didn’t Know About

It’s always fun to get a picture and autograph from some of your favorite characters when visiting Walt Disney World. When you use the MyDisneyExperience app, it’s got a great tool on it that lets you know what characters are close to you.

On my last trip, we found some characters that weren’t on the app, didn’t have a schedule, and there were NO LINES of people waiting to see them. Will it be open and will characters be there all the time? Nope, but it might just prove to be a magical moment in your Disney vacation.

Here’s what you need to know: If you’re in Hollywood Studios near the Rockin’ Roller Coaster featuring Aerosmith, just to the right of the beginning of the line there is a big gate that leads to the relatively new theater building that’s used for special events. If that gate is open, take a peak past the gate to see if some of your favorite characters might be ready to meet you and your family. (This is a very large gate and you’ll know if it’s “open”. If you ever see a sign that says “Cast Members Only”, please do not enter).

The hours are sporadic, I wouldn’t make a special trip down Sunset Boulevard just in case it’s not open. But if you’re there and the gate is open…take advantage!

Our crew got to meet Mary Poppins and Bert, Mushu, Pocahontas, Chip & Dale, the Evil Queen and more.

And there you go, now you know more about character meet-and-greets at Walt Disney World than the average park-goer.
