Happening now through November 13th is Epcot’s very popular Food and Wine Festival. With over 35 global marketplaces, concerts, seminars, demonstrations and book signings, the 2017 festival proves to be better than ever! Last year, my husband and I spent a long weekend traveling around the showcase to celebrate our anniversary. What a truly ‘delicious’ getaway!
Admission to the festival is included in your park ticket to Epcot. On average, food tastings will cost $4-8 and on the beverage side there are many beers, ales and ciders in the $3.75 range (unless of course you are interested in the Dom Perignon or Moet & Chandon Ice Imperial which skew the averages a bit). You are also able to use most tastings towards your snack credits if using the Disney Dining plan. When you are ready to start your culinary adventure, make sure to pick up a ‘Festival Passport’ at any of the kiosks or marketplaces. These help keep track of the many different foods you will try and they make a great, free souvenir!
As you make your way around, there are many standing tables, benches and even grassy turf spots for you to take a rest and enjoy your latest find. We loved taking these moments to enjoy the different entertainment spots. Don’t forget to check out the nightly ‘Eat to the Beat’ concert series that happens at the American Pavilion. The bands get better and better every year with 2017’s line up including Plain White Ts, Sister Hazel, Air Supply, American Authors, 10,00 Maniacs and more!
What’s new in 2017? In addition to the new bands, you will be able to watch and learn from some of the best in the world! While the list of chefs is literally too long to put in this post, the new chefs are Chad Johnson, Daniella Malfitano, Jet Tila, Kim Yelvington, Shaun O’Neale, Stephanie Hersh, and Stuart O’Keeffe. Please note that chef demonstrations and seminars may vary so for the most accurate information, check out the Festival calendar in the park.
As you travel around the showcase, you will notice the addition of a few more marketplaces… or at least your stomach will. Active Eats has action packed offerings ready to satisfy your hunger with options like Loaded Mac ‘n’ Cheese and Sweet Avocado Crema. Coastal Eats offers the taste of the ocean with items like Lump Crab Cake and Seared Scallops. Flavors from Fire spices things up with options like Piggy Wings and Chocolate Picante. Light Lab will give you that refreshing pick-me-up with bubbly drafts and vitamin waters. The Almond Orchard Hosted by Blue Diamond Almond Breeze will offer desserts like Banana Almond Sundae. Returning for the first time since 2010 and 2009, India, Spain, and Thailand will all be back and offering delicious food and drink options.
Whether making it a stop during your fall vacation or making it the whole purpose of your trip, the 2017 Epcot Food & Wine Festival will not disappoint! We really enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere of visiting in the afternoon to early evening hours. Especially with little ones, visiting during the week can also help with lines and crowds.
