Is your favorite scent pumpkin spice? Do you love scary movies? Do you DVR every episode of the The Walking Dead or American Horror Story and miss classics like Tales from the Crypt? Does your house proudly display skeletons, witches, ghosts and more from the middle of September to the beginning of November? If you answered ‘yes’ to most of these, then you are a Halloween fan like me and Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights is where fans like us vacation.
Every year besides filling my fall calendar with local fests and football, I look forward to Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights! Occurring this year on select nights from September 15th through November 4th, there are plenty of opportunities to get your spooky fill. At this separately ticketed event, you won’t want to miss shows like ‘Bill & Ted’s Excellent Halloween Adventure: The Farewell Tour’. As it comes to the end of its 26-year run, this final show will prove to be ‘totally excellent’. Also returning with new material is the delightfully creepy ‘Academy of Villains-Afterlife’ show.
This year’s line-up of haunted houses is sure to get even the toughest guest’s blood pumping. It is hard for me to decide which one I am most excited about! Universal is bringing back FX’s American Horror Story and three of its seasons will be featured: Asylum, Coven and Roanoke (here piggy piggy!). I can’t wait to hear some of the dialogue within ‘Ash vs. Evil Dead’. It is a cult favorite of many and I am sure they will treat us all to an awesome cabin experience. The last two mazes will ensure that this is not an ‘all work and no play’ vacation. Universal announced that the iconic horror movie ‘The Shining’ will take you on a ‘physiological’ adventure. I would find out more but I am afraid to axe. Finally, they are bringing back the very popular Saw movie franchise where you will get to see some of the most twisted traps from the entire series.
Halloween Horror Nights doesn’t stop with haunted houses and spooky shows. You may start to feel the hair on the back of your neck rise as you enter each scare zone designated in different streets of the park. ‘Altars of Horror’ is where certain terrors from the houses are allowed to roam and get… I mean greet you as you enter the event. ‘Festival of the Deadliest’ on the streets of Hollywood has creatures from the darkest corners of the afterlife whose main thrill is to terrify those who enter. ‘Roaming Hordes’ is a place I won’t travel. Clowns are my weakness and they know it in an instant. ‘The Purge’ will be back including the popular victim auction to cleanse the streets of New York. Finally, cult horror movie fans will be eager to check out ‘Trick ‘r Treat’ and the infamous Sam in the Central Park scare zone and find out exactly what happens when we don’t follow the rules.
If you are anything like me, you still dress up each year, you love to watch horror movies curled up on the couch and you can’t wait to check out this year’s Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando Resort. Halloween Horror Night Packages are available now and start at $229 per adult, per night, tax inclusive. Universal does warn that the event may be too intense for young children.
