Universal Orlando has some big plans for the future. While many were sad to hear that the popular coaster Dragon Challenge will be closing for good on September 5, the final part of that announcement was met with excitement.
The coaster is closing to make room for what Universal describes as an “all new coaster experience that will take guests deeper into J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World.”
What does that mean? I have no idea. But I can’t wait to find out! In recent years Universal and J.K Rowlings have brought us the fantastic hybrid ride systems used in Escape from Gringotts and (my personal favorite) Forbidden Journey. Both of which just need to be experienced because there is no description adequate to convey the “awesomeness” of these attractions.
The only date we’ve heard in relation to opening is “2019” which isn’t potentially that far away if they aim for early in the year. I suspect they might. I’ve learned a couple of things about Universal and their ride development process. Number one- They work quickly. Number two- They don’t disappoint.
Let’s keep an eye on this one.
