Vero Beach Resort

Today I’m going to let you in on the best kept secret in Florida – Disney’s Vero Beach Resort.

Are you looking for the perfect beach getaway? Then a stay at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort is just the thing you’re looking for. This beach hideaway is located just two hours southeast of Walt Disney World® Resort on Florida’s Atlantic Treasure Coast and celebrates the uniqueness and splendor of Old Florida.

Now you may be saying – but I don’t want to go to Disney.  You’re not! You’re going to the beach and you’re staying in Disney quality accommodations!

Disney’s Vero Beach Resort is all things Disney service without the Disney World feel.  It’s serene.  It’s peaceful.  It’s everything a beach vacation should be. It is NOT Disney World!! Get the idea out of your head that if it says Disney, it has to be all things Mickey and crowds! This is the opposite!

You can spend time enjoying the gorgeous beaches (which are just steps from your hotel door), or play in the warm blue waters by renting boogie boards, jet skis and more.  What we do, is head to the local Walgreens or Publix, buy a few beach chairs, an umbrella, a Styrofoam cooler, a few pool noodles and use them all week long.  Then we gift them to a family who is just checking in.  Win-win because it’s much less expensive to pay for these items once rather than rent them each day.

Or, soak up some sun poolside at the resort’s Mickey Mouse-shaped swimming pool, complete with a 2-story water slide, whirlpool spa and a pirate-themed children’s wet play area.  There is even a mini golf course right on property and it costs a whopping $1 per game!!!  You can sign up for fishing excursions, nature walks and more.

One amazing thing you won’t want to miss happens at the resort only in the summertime: sea turtle nesting! As a summer guest at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort, you will have the chance to join an outing to observe different species of sea turtles during nesting season. It’s incredible!

There are plenty of delicious dining options at the resort, too. Wind & Waves Grill is open for breakfast and dinner, serving American fare, with a focus on fresh Florida seafood. The Green Cabin Room is also a great spot for a light snack and specialty drinks, surrounded by the extraordinary view of the ocean. But, when we go here, we try to get a 1 or 2 bedroom vacation villa which has a full kitchen.  Then, a quick drive over to the local Publix stocks up our fridge.  We cook or barbecue most nights.  We have even had a pizza from the local Orchid Island Pizzeria delivered to the resort pool. (Tip – it’s pretty darn close to tasting like NY/NJ pizza – the owners are originally from NY!! I should note this is a hard thing to find in Florida!)

Add Disney’s Vero Beach Resort to your list! You’ll be so glad you did!

Until next time, I wish you sunny days.
